Caspar David Friedrich – The Sea of Ice, (The Wreck of Hope), 1823–1824

Päätös

Minä surmaan itsestäni sen, mikä surmaisi minut.
Tuokoon hyvän olon – ei se hyvä olo ole.
Ollessaan sairas ymmärtää hyvin:
Päivä on toiseen
Lääkintää ja
Tuskaa.
Kato-
ami-
sta.

Pelkkää
Paskaa aina vaan
–
Unholaan hukkumaanko
mukamas tarkoitettu olen?
Surulliseen kohtaloon käy
Askelet monien meistä.
Teistä, heistä, noista,
jotka häkeissänsä
ensipäivinään
silppureihin
murhataan.

Liukuhihnanomaiset;
Syntyjään, tietämättään
kadotukseen orjautuneet,
valitettavassa olemassaolossaan.

Toivottavasti heidän silmänsä ovat sulkeutuneet.
Kunpa ei tunteita olisi muilla kuin ihmisillä. Muuten
en tietäisi, mitä tehdä. Karman laki, jos pitää paikkaansa,
Niin varokaa. Aivan oikeasti.
…

Ja sehän pitää.
Minä tiedän,
todistan,
koska
olen
se
.

English translation:

A Resolve

I kill within myself that which kills me.
Let it bring me pleasure – that pleasure is no good.
When one is ill, one understands all too well:
One day after another,
medication
and pain.
Van-
ish-
ing.

Nothing but
Shit, over and over
—
Am I supposedly meant
to drown in oblivion?

Toward a sorrowful fate go
The footsteps of so many of us.
You, them, those,
who, in their cages
in their first days of life,
are murdered
in the shredders.

Conveyor-belt-like;
Enslaved to perdition
from birth, unknowingly,
in their wretched existence.

I hope their eyes have closed.
If only humans alone had feelings. Otherwise
I would not know what to do. The law of karma, if it holds true,
Then beware. I mean it.
…

And it does hold true.
I know and
witness it
because
It
is
I
.
